Air India today said it is suspending flights to Hong Kong from 8 February, hours after a patient’s death with the latest Coronavirus has been confirmed by authorities there.
Air India Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani said, “In light of the Coronavirus problem, Air India is suspending its flights to Hong Kong after flying AI314 on 7 February 2020,” according to news agency Press Trust of India.
The deadly virus, originating in the city of Wuhan in China, is spreading rapidly to other countries. Hong Kong reported today that a patient being treated for the virus has died.
Earlier IndiGo suspended all three India-China flights.
Air India suspended its flight from Delhi-Shanghai and curtailed the flight operations along the Delhi-Hong Kong route. It will also be suspending operations on the Delhi-Hong Kong route from 8 February.
